Plasterboard bridge
The project involved the development and installation of a bespoke system for a multinational plasterboard manufacturer based in Melbourne. The system was designed to capture the full edge profile of the plasterboard during the manufacturing process. The system was developed in collaboration with Bestech, who are the distributor of Micro-Epsilon lasers.
The system featured two state-of-the-art scanControl laser line scanners, which were capable of accurately capturing the edge profile of the plasterboard as it moved through the manufacturing process. The waveform generated by the lasers was displayed on the screen along with relevant measurements, providing operators with real-time feedback on the quality of the plasterboard being produced.
The user interface, along with the mechanical and electrical assemblies were custom designed and developed by us. In addition to real-time feedback, the system also featured trend charts and auto-saving of results, which provided operators with valuable insights into the performance of the manufacturing process over time. The system could be run in standalone mode, or it could be connected to the factory PLC using an in-built OPC client, allowing for seamless integration with existing factory systems.
The user interface, as well as the mechanical and electrical assemblies, were custom-designed and developed by the team behind the project. Throughout the development process, the team worked closely with Bestech and the customer to ensure that the system met their specific requirements and delivered the desired results. Overall, the project represents a successful collaboration between multiple parties to deliver a bespoke solution for a complex manufacturing process.
